Yesterday I drove to PA to visit my dad at the hospital after surgery. He had to be cut open more than the doctors originally expected. They cut my dad from the top of his stomach to his abdomen and removed a tumor that was in between the size of an orange and a grapefruit. The tumor was larger than they initially thought and they also removed a the surrounding
lymph nodes. The doctor believes that he got all of the cancer so that is a blessing. Right now the major concern is that as of last night he is in a lot of pain and the doctors are trying to regulate medication and all. They said that the first five days will be the most important to watch and he will be in the hospital for at least a week to 10 days. We are headed up to be with him in a little while. I will let you know how he is doing today. I am hopeful that he is able to rest and start the healing process. He has been awake and able to talk with us. I'm glad to be able to hold his hand and tell him I love him.
We are all hanging in there okay, but it will be much better when we see him able to get some rest. I am happy to report that after being really worried and fearful, God has given me and my brothers a lot of strength to deal with this and see our father go through a very trying time. Praise the Lord for that. It is great to be in a hospital room where everyone is praying together and asking God for help.
This verse has been on my mind a lot:
Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
God Bless you and thank you for praying.
