On Friday night a few of us brave souls attempted an amazing feat. We took charge of 13 kids from the ages of 4-10 in a church lock-in. We had them from 7 PM until 9 AM. I knew it would be tiring and I knew it would be fun – but I didn’t expect the 4 year olds to stay up until 3 AM! They both impressed and depressed me. Haha I sort of expected everyone to quiet down by midnight, then Kim and I could stretch out on the couches and get a few solid hours of sleep. Instead we painted faces and ate and then ran around in circles and then ate more and then put our sleeping bags down and watched movies and ate some more. (you wouldn’t believe the crums we had EVERYWHERE!) Then we played some more, watched two more movies and at 3 AM when I got the last one to lay down I tried to relax on the floor on the part of my blanket that was not covered in cherry coke. You should have seen how tired Kim and I were the next morning! I have a picture…but I’ll save that for us!
-- In spite of the exhaustion, I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed myself! I know the kids had fun and we laughed a lot! (you should have heard the little girls having “girltalk” or the little boys who kept whining about nothing. It was so silly that every time I heard a whine I started cracking up!) We had visitors and I think they’ll want to come back, but best of all we got to be a blessing to OUR kids. Some of my best memories have to do with growing up in a good church with people that cared about me. I want to pass that along!

In spending time with kids I never have to grow up entirely!
