Who Are You?

This question was faced by the 7th grade classes in which I now find myself. I was part of the "Get to know you" activities today and I found it to be hilarious, impressive and adorable. These kids are so much fun... and so little! Everything is so new to them and just hearing me talk about my brothers and my cats in Florida was interesting to them. The smallest things become goofy and make all of the other students giggle. There were also a few moments that I nearly laughed. There are the usual few shy awkward ones and the class clowns who are trying to get attention. I will share a little of the survey and some fun answers I recall:

What kind of animal would you be?
- a pig
- a squirrel
- a giraffe "cuz giraffes are tall and I'm not"

How is your favorite author?
- several boys of period three picked Dr. Seuss and named various books and then laughed like they were so cool. The same group of boys wanted to be professional athletes of some sort when they were older.
- Charles Dickens (impressive!)

If you could take a trip to any place in the world where would you go.
New Jersey (at least four kids picked this and I'm wondering... what is in NJ? Do they want to gamble??)

If you could travel back in time at what event in American History would you like to be?
My favorite one - "I'd like to go to the signing of the Declaration of Independence so I can sneak my name on it."

One little boy said that his favorite book was the bible. I wish I could have hugged him. :) As you can see I am having a great time already and this is just the second day!

Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to hear more amusing stories. With a room full of 7th graders you're bound to have plenty!
